WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE!
ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Janine.
I am a self-taught seamstress and fashion designer. I started sewing when I was
16 years old, I always had a passion for fashion and often imagined my own designs when window-shopping. My grandma played an important role showing me sewing techniques when I was young. I remember using my T-shirt as a block pattern and I seam-ripped many clothes to use as basic patterns ( I still do that).
I began sewing for friends in my twenties, since 2005 I started my own Clothing line: “enina-J by Janine” (my name spelled backwards) and started sewing for customers. Since then I haven’t looked back. I love helping women take control of their fashion style by wearing my creations.
Aside from my fabric addiction I love working with prints and bright colors, and I especially enjoy to mix and match colors (colorblock) and prints (printblock).
The reason I started this website is to make it possible for you to sew and wear my design. For those of you who don’t have sewing experience, I’ll guide you with my step by step sew-along videos. Each pattern will have its own Do-It Yourself tutorial workbook.
I’m looking forward to seeing you wear my designs. Don’t forget to share your photos with me!
About my sewing, patterns and videos
I am a self-taught seamstress; I developed my own sewing techniques that are not the same as regular sewing lessons and sewing books. All my Patterns are self-designed and self-drafted and based on my sewing techniques, you may notice some small flaws in the drawings when cutting and sewing. In each sewing video tutorial and workbook I will guide you step-by step how to finish the garment. Every two weeks a new pattern with matching video and workbook will be posted.
ABOUT MY ISLAND
I was born, raised and still live in Curacao, a beautiful Island in the South Western Caribbean, just 40 miles from the Venezuelan Coast and located next to her sister islands Aruba and Bonaire, the ABC Islands. The Country of Curacao is an autonomous country within The Royal Dutch Kingdom and that is why we are often called The Dutch Caribbean. We speak 4 languages; our native language is Papiamento and we are taught Dutch, English and Spanish in elementary school, so now you know why I have an accent. With our turquoise colored beaches, the best diving spots, 160,000 Cultural diverse friendly inhabitants, colorful paintings and buildings, year-round sun, I am proud to call my island a tropical paradise. Stay tuned for sightseeing video adventures of Curacao.
My favorite Bible Verse:
‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him’ 1 Corinthians 2:9.
